Hang cited the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei as saying that two groups of Vietnamese workers, at a total of nine people, were locked in a fierce dispute on February 17 near Zhongzheng Road in Taoyuan.

Two workers were stabbed while trying to mediate the dispute, with one of them dying of injuries. The body of the deceased is being held at a local hospital. The other victim is recovering, she said.

In addition, the office proposed the Department of Overseas Labor, under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, ask the relevant firms to support the family of the deceased in visiting Taiwan to complete burial procedures, care for the injured and comply with legal procedures against the accused during the investigation and trial.

The ministry demanded the office closely cooperate with the competent authorities to stay updated on the case and take prompt measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the concerned Vietnamese nationals.
