Kha Banh is well known to netizens fir his extravagant behavior. Most recently, he appeared on the Hanoi-Hai Phong Highway, posing for photos. He was taken away by the police.

The images showing a personality welcomed by students in Yen Bai City have spread among students online. The main character is a well-known young man with the nickname Kha Banh (pretty swell).

The students were seen in the uniforms of a school in Yen Bai.

Many questions were raised after the images appeared on the internet. Why is such a character with a bad profile admired by young people? Aren’t there serious and good students for youth to idolize? Is this a sign of students’ morals degradation? Is that the ‘idol culture’ of the Vietnamese modern students?

Le Quynh Anh, a manager at a foreign invested enterprise in Hanoi, said she was worried about the ‘idol culture’.

“I was astonished when seeing the images my daughter shared on Zalo. Luckily, Kha Banh is not an idol of my daughter, but she said Kha Banh is very famous,” Anh said.

“I am worried that students are not  idolizing young people with excellent achievements in study or scientific research, in sports or arts, but admire a bad boy,” she said. “I wonder if students like the bad boy because they want to be different from everyone else.”

LDN, director of an education complex in Hanoi, said educators need to learn more about the thoughts, views and lifestyle of modern students.

“Modern students have psychological, behavioral and lifestyle habits that are different from previous generations. Meanwhile, many teachers do not understand the psychology and thoughts of their students,” he said.

“Parents and teachers need to be closer to children and students to better understand what they think. This allows them to correct deviations in their behaviors,” he said.

However, the expert said there was no need to be worried about the images. Many other students have critized the students and some middle-aged men who idolize Kha Banh.

Dao Tran, a 12th grader, wrote on her Facebook: “Stop applauding such a bad student who defies the laws and curses all the time. Spend time on study and do something useful for society. ”
