The guideline is supported by senior high school management boards and parents. For years, schools all asked students to wear the special costume on Mondays to salute the flag.

Additionally, schoolgirls are asked to wear Ao dai in educational and cultural festivals as the clothes not only shows the most beautiful feature of a girl but also nurtures the traditional values and reminds students to esteem Vietnam’s cultural beauty.

However, because female students nowadays are very active and partake in various activities, Ao Dai is not suitable and inconvenient for them to take part in these activities. Furthermore, the weather in the city is very hot, wearing Ao Dai will brings uneasiness to schoolgirls.

Accordingly education officials just encouraged them to wear the special costume once a week.
