The information was recently announced by the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The investments are mainly in Laos (nine newly-licensed and nine added-capital projects, making a total of US$126 million) and Cambodia (11newly-licensed and 12 added-capital projects, making a total of US$194 million).

Vietnamese businesses have also invested in the US (18 newly-licensed and 14 added-capital projects totaling US$102 million), Russia, Singapore and Germany.

Most of the investments have been made in mineral exploitation (US$107 million in newly-licensed and added-capital projects, accounting for 16.8% of the total investment) and agro-forestry and fisheries (US$106 million in newly-licensed and added-capital projects) while expanding investment in information, communications, power production, real estate, finance, banking and insurance.

The FIA said that Vietnamese businesses have diversified their investment fields and markets.

The Government issued Decree No.83/2015/ND-CP on September 25 to regulate foreign investment activities for businesses, procedures to invest abroad and State management over investments. The decree is expected to speed up and diversify investments, as well as improve management quality over investment activities to make investment capital abroad more effective.
