Nguyen Thanh Nhan, an official from the Art Performing Administration, said that Ngan was licensed to attend the Miss Tourism Queen International 2011, because she satisfies standards to represent Vietnam at that event.

“International beauty contests are the chance for us to advertise the image of our country to the world,” Nhan added.

Ngan was born in 1991, 1.72m tall, 90-60-89 in body measurement. She is now a student at the HCM City Foreign Languages and Informatics University. She ranked second at the Vietnam Jewelry Queen pageant 2009 and entered the top 20 of the Miss Vietnam 2010.

Ngan, from the southern province of Tien Giang, was nominated by Elite Vietnam. Before going to China, she took large-sized pictures in ao dai and brocade costumes as gifts for the organizing boards and other contestants.

Ngan said that her luggage to the pageant is her knowledge of Vietnam culture and tourism and she will take it as an opportunity to advertise Vietnam tourism to international friends.

The Miss Tourism Queen International 2011 attracts contestants from 104 countries and territories.

The pageant was launched in 2004 and it is among the five largest beauty contests in the world.

In 2009, supermodel Thai Ha took part in the pageant but she did not win any title.
