VietNamNet Bridge – The newly established HCM City Tourist Guide Club (HTC) held its first activity on Tuesday with a cultural event that brought many tourist guides and tourism companies together.

Held in the Tan Cang tourist area, the function featured many interesting games and music performances.

The city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented information about the current situation of the city’s tourism and the modalities involved in getting a tour guide license.

The HTC is the first club for tour guides established by HCM City Tourism Association last December.

Nguyen Huu Tho, chairman of the association, emphasised the important role played by professional tour guides in developing tourism in the country.

The club would create valuable opportunities for members to widen their knowledge and promote networking in the tourism sector, said Vo Anh Tai, chairman of HCM City Travel Association.

Nguyen Van My, a member of the HTC management board, said the club would support its members with travel insurance and protect their legal rights and interests.

The club members will meet every month, he added.
