VietNamNet Bridge - Wandering in a resort or a tourist site, you might have seen young people playing together in groups.

They could be staff of a company partaking in a training course for teambuilding, offering not only a break from work but also skills that are useful to their jobs.

Relaxing excursions in conjunction with skills development for staff are often chosen by many companies.

Late last month, members of 2030 Businessmen Club and other business people participated in many interesting and helpful games during a teambuilding program held by the club at Giang Dien Waterfall Tourist Site in Dong Nai Province.

The four teams participated in games that were designed to foster cooperation between members.

After the games, nearly 50 participants had the opportunity to swim at the waterfall and ride tandem bicycles around the site.

“Our biggest purpose when joining the program was to have a helpful and interesting weekend so that we can have a good start for the new busy week,” a member of 2030 Club said.

The club said that it plans to organize the program more regularly so that it can create a playground for businessmen.

This is one of hundreds of teambuilding activities held in recent years.

Staff of the Vietnam-Australian International Tourism School also joined the program. They said that they would take the experience from the teambuilding activity to hold one for their schools.

According to Ernest John Proctor, Canadian senior trainer for human resources consulting company A.Q.L. Co., teambuilding stabilizes the team’s differences and creates a common platform from which all the members can work effectively towards the best possible outcome.

The 100% Vietnamese-invested company now supplies many kinds of teambuilding, including activities, workshops, training and consultancy to meet the various demands of its customers.

Activity programs focus on cooperation games where members must organize themselves and delegate responsibility while working in different positions to come together as a team.

However, in Vietnam and especially HCMC, there are few companies supplying teambuilding.

Creating different and unique motivation and teamwork strategies for each client is also a challenge. “So, we use foreign experts, who understand habits and cultures of Westerners or Asians. They provide the proper consultations for each region,” Nguyen Hoa An, A.Q.L’s director, said. Moreover, there are more difficulties when supplying the teambuilding activities to local businesses because “their awareness of the service is not as high,” An said.

An also said that besides foreign companies, more and more local enterprises have organized teambuilding programs for their staff. This means that the awareness of having teambuilding is higher and higher.
