16:35' 21/10/2009 (GMT+7)

VietNamNet Bridge – The Viet Nam Youth and Sustainable Development Forum on Climate Change, Awareness & Action opened yesterday, October 20, in Soc Son district, Ha Noi.

The forum is being attended by Viet Nam non-government bodies, international organisations and environment clubs, which include Live&Learn, Challenge to Change, GreenZoom, Oxfam and the British Council.

About 50 representatives from the country will take part in the forum to discuss global climate change’s impact on the poor, sustainable production and consumption.

Many activities will be held during the five day forum including team work seminars, film screening, games and field trips.

The film, The Age of Stupid, will be screened today, which covers the topics surrounding climate change, oil, war, politics, consumerism and human stupidity.

On the fourth day, the participants will go to a local school to conduct a survey about the students’ knowledge of climate change. According to My Hanh from the VYS, after they finish the survey, they will design a plan to upgrade the curriculum in order to provide better information for the pupils.

A message from the Vietnamese youth and an action plan will be made at the forum. The message will then be sent to the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference this December in Copenhagen, Denmark.
