VietNamNet Bridge - Steven Mill, Senior Vice President and Group Executive, IBM Software Group arrived in Hanoi this morning, January 14.
He had a 20-minute talk with students of the Hanoi University of Technology. After the talk, the IBM senior official signed agreements with Hanoi CTT and the Hanoi University of technology on developer training.
Under the agreement, IBM will implement its CEIS (Career Education in IBM Software), a training program that will equip students of Hanoi University of Technology with global IT skills.
This afternoon Steve Mills will meet with Vietnamese businesses at Sheraton hotel, Hanoi and after that he will have a talk with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
IBM training partners said they expect to train 2,000 Vietnamese programmers for IBM by 2008 and 5,000 by 2010.
Last year IBM inaugurated the first Global Delivery Center in HCM City, which has trained around 1,000 programmers to date.
IBM said they plan to expand the global delivery center and may open a center of the kind in Hanoi if their required conditions are met.
