- In the five years since it was built, the Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) has attracted 28 domestic and foreign investors with a total registered capital of $1.416 billion.

The investment has mainly been poured into information and technology, semi-conducting chip, electronic components and biological technology from the world’s and Vietnam’s large corporations such as Intel, Jabil Circuit of the US, Sonion of Denmark, Nidec of Japan, and VTC and FPT of Vietnam.

According to SHTP President Nguyen Dinh Mai, in the 2008-2010 period, SHTP will focus on attracting investment in the production of high-tech services, and increasing research and development (R&D) activities.

SHTP is carrying out a project to create a service infrastructure and attract investment in high-tech services, especially in the Internet value added services.

SHTP will also spend 200 billion VND building two semi-conducting and nano technology laboratories and one mechanical laboratory.
