| The press conference introducing Vietnam Comm 2007. | VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on June 12 introduced the Vietnam Communications Exhibition and Conference (Vietnam Comm).
The new version of Vietnam Telecomp will be held on odd years to meet the needs of businesses in the age of information.
According to VNPT’s plan, the first Vietnam Comm will take place from September 19-22, 2007. The exhibition will focus on the hottest issues in the information and communications industry of Vietnam such as business opportunities in mobile and wireless information business due to Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO); new technology, applications, and the converging trend of telecom-information technology and the Internet.
According to organisers of Vietnam Comm 2007, Vietnam’s telecom sector is growing very rapidly, with an annual growth rate of 30% in recent years and has become a potential market for foreign investors.
Under Vietnam’s WTO commitments, foreign investors can directly be involved in the management of and own up to 49% of stocks in a telecom joint venture.
Vietnam Comm 2007 is a chance for telecom service providers and IT firms to exchange information, take surveys and seek partnerships. Around 150 enterprises from 20 countries have registered to take part in the event, including giant names in the world’s telecom market like SK Telecom, France Telecom, NTT DoCoMo and big names of Vietnam like VNPT, Saigon Postel and EVN Telecom.
Under the framework of Vietnam Comm 2007, workshops will be held focusing on wireless communications, opportunities for mobile information services, developing added value based on wireless technology, the application of new technologies, and integrating IT services into telecom networks.
