Sao Khue 2007: 46 awards presented

VietNamNet Bridge - Former Deputy Minister of Post and Telematics Mai Liem Truc has been honoured as having greatly contributed to the development of Vietnam’s IT industry.

 

Dr. Mai Liem Truc is the only individual who was honoured at the Sao Khue 2007 awards ceremony, held in Hanoi last Sunday, April 22.

 

Dr. Truc is considered one of the people who has greatly contributed to modernising the telecom network of Vietnam and helped the post and telecommunications sector catch up with the development of countries in the region.

 

At the awards ceremony, the HCM City People’s Committee was recognised as the unit that has had the best and best-developed IT development policies.

 

Three enterprises were honoured as outstanding businesses in IT application: the State Treasury, Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company, and Vietsovpetro oil and gas joint venture enterprise.

 

Like last year, PC World magazine and Digital Life programme of the Vietnam Television (VTV) won the prize for communications.

 

Vina computer game joint stock company won the prize for outstanding provider of digital information contents.

 

The DTT Digital Telecom Technology Company is the only firm that won two prizes, one for best development and one for outstanding software outsourcing company. Last year, DTT recorded a growth rate of around 500% and software export revenue of VND21.38 billion (US$1.33 million).

 

GHP Far East and IACP Asia won the prize for software companies that have had breakthroughs in exports while FCG Vietnam received the prize for good-quality procedures.

 

Among outstanding software products honoured during Sao Khue 2007, three were rated at the five star level: Violet online lesson plan compiling tool of Bach Kim IT Joint Stock Company, tsplaza.com.vn online shopping portal by Hanoi Broadcasting and Television Service Joint Stock Company, and Libol online library software of Tinh Van Technology Joint Stock Company.

 

This is the second time Libol has won a Sao Khue award. This software is now used at nearly 70 public libraries, research institutes, and universities in Vietnam.
