Official stresses environment in Hanoi transport development

VietNamNet Bridge - The development of urban transportation in Hanoi has to combined with efforts to curb gas emission, Natural Resources and Environment Deputy Minister Pham Khoi Nguyen has said.

Nguyen, who is also President of the Global Environment Fund’s Vietnam management board, said the GEF-funded $9.8 million project is taking into account this urgently action.


The project will help build a new large and fast transport system, a strategy for road infrastructure and sustainable urban planning and a programme to improve air quality and traffic safety.

It will also promote the use of public transport and bicycles as well as walking.
