The ACM Chicken team

The team includes three students namely Tran Thuy Trang, Phan Da Phuc and Le Huy Binh. The contest this year will see competitions of 86 teams coming from all continents all over the world.

Chicken is one of the four top-listed teams in the Asian ACM/ICPC to be organized in Hanoi last November. On December 23, Prof. Caneo Jinshong Hwang, Asian Regional Director of ACM/ICPC announced the top 26 teams representing 26 universities in Asia to qualify in the global ACM/ICPC contest.

The ACM/ICPC contest 2006 attracts the participation of 6,613 teams coming from 1,821 universities of 80 nations and territorial regions. The first round was organized in 244 examination places of different countries, an increase of 18% compared to that of last year.

Coming to the World Final ACM/ICPC 2006 are 86 most outstanding teams including 26 teams from Asia, 20 from Europe, 2 from Africa, 10 from South America and 25 from North America and 3 teams from South Pacific Region. The list of participants is post on the web-based http://icpc.baylor.edu/icpc/Finals/default.htm).

Undoubtedly, it is of great honour when Vietnam had successfully organized the Asian ACM/ICPC 2006 for the first time with two top teams of the same level with those coming from renowned universities of China, Japan and Korea.

Such an achievement expresses the hardworking and painstaking efforts of Vietnamese students to keep pace with IT development in the world.

It is necessary that the Vietnam Association of Informatics and other relevant agencies should organize more and more ACM/ICPC contests in Vietnam, not only in Hanoi but in Danang and HCM City as well so that IT excellent students have a ground and put Vietnam into the list of top 12 by the global ACM/ICPC.

Hopefully, the Chicken team will bring the shining image of Vietnamese students to the world.
