The newspaper quoted a source in the Dutch Embassy in Ha Noi as saying that the "Biological Gas Programme for Viet Nam's Livestock Breeding" was one of the nominees for the Global Energy Prize, which will be awarded in Belgium, early 2007.

The programme, launched in 2003 under cooperation between the governments of Viet Nam and the Netherlands and with technical assistance from the Netherlands Development Agency, aims at developing a market-oriented, sustainable biological gas industry and reducing the use of fossil fuel.

Images showing the use of biological gas in Viet Nam will be shown in a live 90-minute television programme to be broadcast globally .
