Young Hanoians have easily adapted to the rapidly-changing information technology trend.
Based on a survey conducted on people aged between 18 and 24, this information was released in Ha Noi on Dec. 12 by Dr. Kristin Braa, Executive Manager of the Norway-based Telenor Group's Research and Renovation Centre for Asia-Pacific.
The survey showed that, unlike Malaysian youngsters, who send an average of 18 messages a day and rarely make a call, youths in Vietnamese cities send between five and six messages but make a similar number of cell phone calls a day.
Mobile phones were at first used to make calls but gradually, new services were added to satisfy the increasing needs of the Vietnamese society.
According to the same survey, a big part of the Vietnamese young generation use pre-paid cards with an average expenditure of 300,000 VND a month. They like to go to Internet cafes despite having their home computers linked to Internet services. Yahoo Messager remain the most popular electronic communication means among Vietnamese youths.
