VietNamNet – Director of the HCM City Department of Health on June 20 confirmed five samples of Staphylococcus aureus taken from two immunization workers of District 5 and three children hospitalised after Priorix injections were a match.

Mr Dung said that the results came from laboratory tests undertaken by the HCM City Pasteur Institute and the National Institute for Vaccine and Medical Biological Products. They are waiting for further results from other tests made by international laboratories.

The HCM City Department of Health, which is evaluating use of Priorix vaccine in HCM City, will meet for the fourth time on June 27 to gather further information and draw a preliminary conclusion for the Priorix case, which left one child dead and five others hospitalised.

According to Mr Dung, the case was little more than an “occupational accident that nobody wants”.

The local Department of Health will combine with the HCM City Pasteur Institute to evaluate and strengthen immunisation programmes in the city.
