VietNamNet – The Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) has launched a new phone service based on the new generation network (NGN), PayPhone 1719.

This is a public telecom service based on the NGN foundation, which allows users to make local and international calls from phone boxes and fixed telephones.

Previously, VNPT offered a pre-paid Calling Card service, which allowed customers to make local and international calls from fixed telephone lines through the service number 1719. Customers did so using a card that contained a special code.

Now, in addition to the code cards, customers can buy one that contains a chip and can be used at Payphone 1719 boxes.

VNPT now offers two card phone services, one provided by the Vietnam Telecom Service Company (GPC) and one by the Vietnam National Telecom Company (VTN).
