The first laboratory will research nano elements that are expected to have large market prospects.
VietNamNet – HCM City plans to establish two nano technology laboratories at a cost of VND177bil.

Last week Dr Nguyen Chanh Khe from the HCM City Department of Science and Technology presented the project proposal before an evaluation council.

If it goes ahead, the first laboratory will research nano coal pine, liquid nano coal, and solar batteries, while the second will focus on photon nano, lithographic nano and mecha-electronic-biology, which are expected to have large market prospects (over US$100bil).

Calculations show that the two laboratories need $5mil for their first year of operation and $11.252mil for the subsequent five years.

Vietnam currently doesn’t produce any commercial semiconductors.
