While footballers Cole and McManaman blanked press on arrival at Hanio’s Noi Bai airport, they didn’t refuse questions from reporters at a press conference the same afternoon.

“I didn’t know anything about Vietnam before I came here. But it is different now and if anybody asks me about Vietnam, I will have many things to tell them. The fans have surprised me. I didn’t think that I would be welcomed so warmly. For this, I would like to play well as the most practical way of saying thank you.”

Meanwhile, Vietnamese former football stars like Nguyen Hong Son and Cao Cuong also said they are delighted to be involved in the upcoming matches against UK former stars.
