Senior golfers to tee off

The Viet Nam Golf Association said the championship will attract prominent golfers selected from golf clubs and associations nationwide.

The Viet Nam Senior Golf Championship will start on April 23 at the Viet Nam Golf&Country Club Course.

The golfers will compete over two days with 18 holes each.

This is the second golf championship in Viet Nam, opening the way for other planned championships in the future.

The Cong scouts Brazilian talents

After a 3-1 win against HCM City in round 7 of the premier V-League, leaders of The Cong flew to Brazil to find skilful players to supplement the club in the second stage of the V-League.

With the aim of grabbing a high position in the national premier league, The Cong will pay high salaries for appropriate foreign players.

At present, the club has five foreign players.

Binh Duong down Hai Phong

Defending champions Becamex Binh Duong beat Hai Phong Cement 2-1 in a late match of the V-League at Go Dau Stadium on Wednesday.

The hosts attacked, with the support of their fans but didn't score in the first half.

After the break, from a spectacular pass of Binh Duong's Kesley Alves, striker Fabiano opened the scoring for the hosts.

But only five minutes later, taking full advantage of a chaotic situation in front of the goal box, the visitor's Leandro levelled the score.

After several efforts, Hoang Vuong finally scored the decisive goal for the hosts at the 69th minute.

With this win, Binh Duong now rank sixth in the table with 10 points, while Hai Phong are 12th with seven points. Da Nang moved on the top with 15 points.

Viet Nam to host AFC U-14

Viet Nam will host the AFC U-14 women's Football Festival from June 17 through 30.

The event will attract eight members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) including Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and host Viet Nam.

This year, the Ha Noi women's football club will represent Viet Nam in the event. The Hoa Hop-Ha Noi women's football club will play in the 2008 AFC U-13 Women's Festival.

The Viet Nam Football Federation plans to rotate each club so they all have the chance to compete in the National Women's Football Championships and take part in the tournament.

On the sidelines of the festival, the AFC will run two courses for coaches to train talented young female coaches under age 25, as well as a conference for the head coaches of the eight women's football teams.
