Van Quyen

VietNamNet Bridge – After losing Quoc Vuong, Song Lam Nghe An football club may lose its star striker Van Quyen.

After his probation and suspension expired (match fixing case at SEA Games 23), Van Quyen planned to “repay” Song Lam Nghe An by playing football for this team for one year, at normal pay like the other players on the team.

However, during the negotiation for the new contract, Song Lam Nghe An had asked Van Quyen to sign a contract of at least two years. In the first year, he will be paid the same rate as other players. The pay will be increased to VND 20 million (US $1,250) in the second year, without anything else.

Van Quyen didn’t agree with Song Lam Nghe An because if he plays for other teams, he will surely be paid a very high salary, plus hundreds of thousands of US dollars, like what Quoc Vuong, his former teammate received.

Meanwhile, Song Lam Nghe An is facing financial difficulties since its sponsors threatened to stop funding.

According to an anonymous source, Van Quyen has hired a lawyer to prepare for a legal war against his club in case the two sides don’t reach an agreement on the new contract.

According to the current contract, by December 31, 2008, Quyen will be no longer a member of Song Lam Nghe An.

Previously, Quyen had refused many invitations from rich clubs in the south to play for Song Lam Nghe An club to repay the club for its assistance.
