VietNamNet Bridge – Saigon Port football club’s Luu Ngoc Hung today underwent a face operation after being attacked by a Nigerian teammate. Hung has asked for compensation from the teammate.

The operation to re-arrange his face bones was conducted at the Vietnam-France Hospital in HCM City, at a cost of VND50 million. In addition, Hung had to pay more than VND5 million worth of hospital fees.

Hung said John Wole came to see him and apologise but the Nigerian player didn’t definitively explain why he hit Hung and didn’t pay treatment expenditures. Hung, thus, asked police to protect his interests. In his complaint, Hung asks Wole to pay all hospital charges and treatment fees.

“If John Wole admits his mistake and takes responsibility I will withdraw my complaint,” Hung said.

Vu Xuan Thanh, sheriff of District 7, said the two sides can handle the case together. However, if Hung’s injuries are over 11%, John Wole will face legal proceedings.

Saigon Port’s Managing Director said John Wole didn’t say why he attacked his teammate. The director said Saigon Port will protect Hung’s interests though this player will move to Ninh Binh club.

Saigon Port is holding Wole’s passport to prevent him from leaving the country while policemen are investigating the case.
