VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnam national women’s football team lost 2-0 to Shangdong (China) in their second game at the Vietnam Coal and Minerals tournament on October 28.

Wang Lei scored a brace in the first half to help the Chinese team stay on top of the table with six points after two victories. Earlier, they had trounced Laos in an 11-0 defeat.

The defeat dented the Vietnam team’s hope to win the tournament as they only have one point after two games.

Earlier, they were held to a 0-0 draw with hosts Vietnam Coal and Minerals in their opening game.

Vietnam coach Zhen Yun Fat made two changes to the squad that shared the spoils with Vietnam Coal and Minerals. Minh Nguyet replaced suspended Nhieu Thuy Linh as rightback and Le Thi Thuong came in for Nguyen Thi Huong in the midfield.

Playing against such strong opponents as Shangdong, the Vietnamese side opted to play a counter attacking game.

Shangdong, with better physical terms, quickly went in front. Wang headed home the opener after 28 minutes.

Two minutes later, Kim Hong wasted a good chance in a one-on-one situation with the Shangdong goalie.

Five minutes from half-time, Wang scored her second goal, capitalising on a mistake of the Vietnam defence.

After the break, Vietnam increased the pace of the game but failed to narrow the gap.

In another match, Chinese Taipei beat Laos 6-0.
