Sport officials named Thang banned from leaving VN

VietNamNet – The police have asked the National Committee for Sports and Physical Training not to send any official named Thang on business abroad. They also asked the Immigration Agency not to allow those people to leave Vietnam during this time.

 

According to police, a sports official named Thang was involved in the betting ring of Bui Quang Hung.

 

Investigators have found significant evidence, which may lead to the arrest for gambling of an official of the National Committee for Sports and Physical Training named Thang, nicknamed Thang Thep (Thang steel). This official currently still owes Bui Quang Hung US$300,000. According to sources, two persons named Thang, officials of the Vietnam Chess Federation have been under police surveillance.

 

The two men named Thang who work at the Vietnam Chess Federation include Dang Tat Thang, the federation’s Secretary General and Nguyen Minh Thang, an expert. The National Committee for Sports and Physical Training has five officials named Thang. Investigators will work with all of them, but they will focus on the two Thangs of the Vietnam Chess Federation.

 

Recently the federation’s Secretary General Dang Tat Thang confirmed that he does not know who “Thang steel” is and he does not have that nickname. He also emphasized that he hates football and does not have much money to bet.

 

Huynh Vinh ai, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Sports and Physical Training, said that the committee has not received any requests from police about the Thang steel case. Dang Tat Thang, Secretary General of the Vietnam Chess Federation is scheduled to go to Doha Qatar to prepare for the 15th ASIAD.
