VietNamNet Bridge – According to the Veterinary Agency, the foot-and-mouth epidemic is spreading in many provinces.

The northern mountainous province of Ha Giang is the latest locality where the disease was detected on November 18, with over 400 ailing cows, buffaloes and pigs.

The pandemic is also reported recently in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, with 35 buffalos and in the central province of Phu Yen, with 11 cows.

Previously, foot-and-mouth attacked cattle in 12 other provinces of Quang Nam, Nghe An and Ha Tinh in the central, Dak Lak and Gia Lai in the Central Highlands, Yen Bai, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho and Son La in the north.

These provinces are taking measures against the disease. However, it is forecast that the disease will continue spreading because the ercentage of cattle vaccinated against the disease is low.
