VietNamNet Bridge - During a defense class on the school yard of Thai Phien high school in Thanh Khe district, in the central city of Da Nang on Monday, a twelfth-grade schoolgirl suddenly pulled out a grenade from her paper case and undid the safety pin.

The schoolgirl in hospital after the incident.

The grenade exploded, injuring the girl on her left hand, neck and face and hit the eyes of a nearby female student. The two were brought to the Da Nang Hospital.

Teachers then discovered one more grenade in the schoolgirl’s paper case.

It is reported that the grenades are the ones used in military exercise, which have only fuse, not dynamite.

Teachers said the school’s defense curriculum does not include lessons about grenades so it is highly possible that the two grenades were brought from outside.

They submitted the grenade to police for investigation in to its source.

The two schoolgirls were still at the hospital last night. The wounds are not serious but they were in a panic.
