VietNamNet Bridge – Lions Clubs Thailand has granted 30,000 USD to build 30 houses for poor families across Vietnam.
The houses will be built under the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee’s Fund for the Poor.
During a reception for Lions Clubs Thailand in Hanoi on April 21, VFF Vice President Vu Trong Kim praised the organisation’s charitable activities, including an eye disease prevention program in Vietnam.
Kim said the VFF helped build around 750,000 homes for the poor across the country, but there are still more than 400,000 others in need of assistance and support.
Lions Clubs Director Vuthi Boonnikornvoravith said the organisation had previously donated around 1 million USD to Vietnam to provide free ophthalmology surgery for over 10,000 poor patients as well as upgrade eye hospitals and train thousands of ophthalmologists.
Vuthi said he hoped the VFF will work closely with Lions Clubs Thailand in the near future to enhance cooperation efficiency and support the proposed establishment of Lions Clubs Vietnam.
