According to South Korean laws, the defendant can appeal against the verdict three times, but the murderer didn’t file an appeal so the verdict is effective now.

An article on Hankyoreh newspaper quoted Judge Kim Sang Jun saying he wished that bride Huynh Mai’s family had attended the proceedings, but he wasn’t able to contact the family. The article also says that they want Vietnamese people are satisfied with the verdict.

Meanwhile, Huynh Mai’s father, Huynh Van Sau, said he called the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea several time to ask about the judgement of the man who killed his daughter, but was unable to get through.

Sau said his family received over VND400 million from South Korean organizations and he used the money to redeem his fields. According to Sau, the Korean court should invite or inform his family about the verdict.
