VietNamNet Bridge – The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court on December 13 handed down a ten-year imprisonment to a 26-year-old Chinese citizen for defrauding international telephone call charge.

Song Long Guo was also ordered to pay 5.9 billion VND in compensation.

According to the indictment, Guo was caught red-handed operating equipment to convert illegal international incoming calls to local ones at a rented apartment in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City on October 31, 2006.

Guo also ran similar systems at two other places in Phu Nhuan District.

He admitted that he and his sister Hong Hai Yan had worked for a company specialising in providing the special equipment in China. They were sent to Vietnam in 2005 to install and operate the systems in the country.
