The biggest vocational training facility of southern Vietnam was inaugurated in coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on October 25.
The 40-ha Hong Lam Vocational Training School was equipped with state-of-the-art devices to provide international-standard training to both learners and teachers.
The school plans to recruit 1,000 students for each training course with around 200 of them will be selected to work abroad under the school’s labour export schemes.
The French government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide over 143 million USD to upgrade rural infrastructure in central Viet Nam .
The scheme will centre on upgrading rural roads, markets, water supply systems and flood control systems in rural areas in 13 central provinces.
The French Development Agency has pledged to provide 1.3 million USD in non-refundable aid for the project. According to ADB, the central region of Vietnam is a special disadvantaged region suffering from the aftermaths of wars and natural disasters.
The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong will spend 296 billion VND (18.5 million USD) to develop its power network with an aim of providing electricity for its all 161 ethnic minority communes by 2010.
The money will be spent on building transformer stations and connecting power lines to each house.
Disadvantaged ethnic minority households will also be able to use power without paying monthly fees.
Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to step up cooperation in the fight against women and children trafficking.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by the Department of Social Order Crime Investigation of the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and the Police Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department of the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia at a conference held in southern Tay Ninh Province on October 24.
Under the agreement, the two countries’ police forces will exchange information and documents related to human trafficking, collaborate in identifying and returning victims, and investigate cross-border human trafficking crimes.
The central coastal province of Quang Nam on October 24 decided to invest 30 billion VND in upgrading all temporary schools and public offices in eight mountainous districts.
The funding, which comes from World Bank loans, will help build the province’s 2,000 home classrooms and 524 home public offices into brick-and-tile buildings.
A primary school, named Huong So, was inaugurated in Hue city, Central Thua Thien-Hue Province, on October 25.
The two-storey school was build with fundings donated by the Bretagne-Viet Nam Association and Rennes City (France).
The of 4.5 billion VND school has 12 classrooms. It is expected more aid in order to meet national education standard.
