VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnamese Embassy in Australia on September 2 handed over visa exemption certificates to 29 Vietnamese residing in Australia, the first such certificates issued by the embassy in line with the Prime Minister's Decision 135 on visa exemption for overseas Vietnamese.

Minister counsellor Nguyen Trac Toan took this occasion to stress that Decision 135 is a concrete step in implementing the Party Political Bureau's Resolution 36 which considers overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the Vietnamese national community.

One of the first recipients of visa exemption certificates, Le Thi Ngan, from the Australian National University, said the policy has met the wishes of overseas Vietnamese and made it much easier for Vietnamese living overseas to visit their homeland and contribute to national construction.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan also began the provision of visa exemption certificates to Vietnamese residing in the land of the Rising Sun.

Earlier on September 1, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Dinh Bin also presented first visa exemption certificates to overseas Vietnamese in France.
