VietNamNet Bridge - The Japanese embassy in Hanoi on August 29 held a press briefing about the Japan – East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths in the 21st century (JENESYS).
The programme was launched by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the East Asia Summit held in Cebu, the Philippines in January 2007.
Accordingly, the programme will be carried out over five years and some 600 students and youths will be invited to Japan every year.
At the briefing, the Japanese Embassy said Japan has allocated 35 billion Yen for the programme. All students and youths invited to Japan will be provided with free travel costs, accommodation and daily expenses. They will have exchanges with local students and youths and many others from Asian countries. They will also visit some beautiful sights in Japan and enjoy home-stays.
For Vietnam, Japan plans to invite 330 students and youths to the country in the first year in the short-term programme and 4 students and youths in the long-term programme.
In the coming period, the Japanese embassy will cooperate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training to select students and youths to take part in the programme.
