VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong said the 63rd congress with its topic “Peace, Cooperation and Development” proved the everlasting idea of L. Zamenhof – Esperanto initiator – of the solidarity and the development of the world Esperanto movement.
WEA President Renato Corsetti stressed that Esperanto should continue its role as a link between nations and regions in the world.
He expressed his wish that young generations would find out effective measures to boost the use of the international language in mass media for universal understanding.
As scheduled, from July 28-Aug. 2, the delegates will review the 2005-07 term, elect an executive committee for the new term of 2007-09, attend seminars on Asian Esperanto youth movement, and other activities.
Toyota-initiated concerts to raise funds for kids
The Toyota Vietnam Foundation and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra will jointly organise concerts in five major cities of the country from July 29 to August 12 to raise funds for local disadvantage children.
The shows, dubbed Toyota Concert Tour 2007, will take place in Hanoi and Hai Phong in the north, Hue and Nha Trang in the central region, and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
All the proceeds collected from the performances will be granted to disadvantaged and disabled children at music schools in the targeted cities.
Renowned Japanese violist Ai Okumura and conductor Tetsuji Honna are expected to join the programme that will feature works by Felix Mendelssohn, including “Wedding Match” extracted from “Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
The tour is one of four major activities organised annually by the foundation that was established in 2005 with an initial financing of 4 million USD funded entirely by Toyota Motor Vietnam.
Since its inception, Toyota Vietnam Foundation has focused on community-based activities to promote cultural and social development, particularly the educational quality and human resource development in the Southeast Asian country.
