Four people reported to carry H5N1

Bridge – The Ministry of Health has discovered two more patients carrying H5N1 virus. One of them has recovered.

 

Dr. Nguyen Huy Nga, Head of the ministry’s Preventive Health Agency, said that one of the two patients is a man, 29, from the central province of Thanh Hoa.

 

This man ate meat of an ill goose. He contracted with fever, cough, and light pneumonia and was discharged from hospital on June 3. Doctors till recently knew that he carried H5N1 virus when they received the test results of his blood sample.

 

The second patient is a girl, 20, from the northern province of Ha Nam, who is being treated at the National Hospital for Transmitted and Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

 

She catches heavy pneumonia and is now using respiratory supporting machine. Doctors are searching the reason of her disease.

 

So far this year Vietnam has reported four cases of bird flu on human. Two of them have recovered, including the first patient from Vinh Phuc, who left hospital on June 11.
