Eighteen provinces and cities carry out H5N1 vaccination

VietNamNet - Eighteen provinces and cities in the whole country have started vaccination against bird flu for poultry, according to the national steering committee for prevention and management.

According to report from the review meeting of the committee, held in Hanoi on April 5, Nam Dinh province is the first province nationwide that has completed it first round of vaccination of poultry against bird flu in 2006. Eighteen other provinces and cities are carrying out vaccination at the moment, shooting doses of H5N1 vaccination for 13 million poultry.

32 other provinces and cities have started campaigns to clean farming areas and decontaminate breeding ground.

Bird flu has been contained in Vietnam. However, the risk of reoccurrence of the pandemic is high.

The steering committee requested full alerts from government agencies, localities against the reoccurrence of bird flu, through various measures, particularly through good vaccination.
