Thirty-two professors from US universities visited HCM City on January 18 to learn about the city’s economic and social situation. Among them are people who researched the Communist Party and protested the Vietnam War before.

At the meeting, HCM City Deputy Chairman Nguyen Huu Tin answered American professors’ questions about the city’s policies for the poor and foreign-invested enterprises.

Mr. Tin told American professors that the city is building tens of thousands of apartments for low income earners and has special assistance for the poor.

He also confirmed that foreign investors can select their form of investment in Vietnam and Vietnam doesn’t discriminate against foreign companies.

Representatives of the group of American professors expressed their wish to become a bridge for HCM City to twin with a US city.

The American professors have gone to Mekong Delta Province.
