Vietnam still has over 3mil malnourished children.

Although the ratio of malnourished children in Vietnam has fallen from over 30% to nearly 27% recently, there are currently over 3mil malnourished children.

According to Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan, Rector of the Nutrition Institute, rectifying the problem is very difficult, especially in terms of funding. Other countries often devote $5-15/child per year to the problem, but in Vietnam, the figure is only $0.4.

To improve nutrition standards for Vietnamese people, especially children, the Ministry of Health has launched a week of nutrition on the occasion of World Food Day (October 16). During this week, the Nutrition Institute will encourage people to diversify their sources of food and ensure food security in calamity-hit areas.
