A Vietnamese-funded primary school has just been inaugurated in Laos' central province of Khammouane.

The 500sq.m school began to be built in April 2003 at a total cost of US$120,000 with funding channelled through Quang Binh Province.

Earlier, leaders of Son La Township in Vietnam's northern province of Son La and Sam Nuea town in northern Lao province of Huaphane signed a cooperation agreement for the 2004-2006 period.

Under the agreement, Vietnam will provide assistance in personnel training and education as well as build a primary school in Laos.

In recent years, Son La Township has helped Sam Nuea in personnel training, fruit-tree planting and construction of schools.
