VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese Internet users are worrying about the news that Yahoo will close Yahoo!360o to develop a new social networking website. Along with this, errors are appearing on many blogs of Vietnamese users.

Yahoo!360o is said to be ineffective globally in comparison with MySpace, Facebook and some other social networking website. However, it is a giant in Vietnam because more than 90% of Vietnamese Internet users use email, messenger services of Yahoo and that’s the bridge to Yahoo!360o.

Other social networking websites dream of having a great number of Vietnamese users like Yahoo!360o and they are seeking ways to enchant Vietnamese bloggers. Blogs are like houses and bloggers, the owners of these houses, have to carefully consider moving from one house to another because once they move they will have to build their neighbouring relations from the beginning.

Actually, the new social networking website of Yahoo, Yahoo! Mash Beta, is not good enough to satisfy Vietnamese bloggers so they are complaining about the change.

Each blog account on Yahoo! 360o has certain relations with other bloggers through friendlist, groups, quick comments, entries, etc. and they don’t want to give these up. Especially, for famous bloggers, page view is their pride. They can copy entries and photos but page view statistics and comments are impossible.

To save their blogs, some Vietnamese bloggers have transferred the whole content of their blogs to other blog servers based in Vietnam, such as TimNhanh!, Café at http://cafe.timnhanh.com, Star blog, Wnwebblog, Yobanbe.

Based on standards for social networking websites, TimNhanh Café is one of the first local sites to offer optimal integration between users and the cyber world, the most outstanding characteristic of the social network. Other sites just focus on some parts, like news, music, games, blogs.

Over 200 employees of TimNhanh spent nearly two years to finalise its information gate grouping over 20 websites specialising in different contents. TimNhanh recently stated it had completed its information gate for Vietnamese users, including TimNhanh! Café for bloggers.
