VietNamNet Bridge – “Meet Vietnam” – the first of a series of activities to promote economic cooperation and promote Vietnam’s image in California will take place on November 15-16 in San Francisco.

The event will take place at the city’s municipal administration house. On November 15, the “Vietnamese cultural space” exhibition will open in the afternoon to introduce Vietnam’s achievements in its “doi moi” or renovation period. These will include Vietnamese contemporary artistic photos, traditional musical instruments and water puppetry.

An investment forum is set to welcome over 200 American investors. They will have the chance to meet representatives of HCM City, Da Nang and Can Tho to discuss investment opportunities.

Considering the proximity of Silicon Valley - a talk about information technology will be part of the programme. It’s hoped the talk will include leading US IT groups.

On November 16, a seminar about Vietnamese education will be held to discuss cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese and American schools.

Other activities will include a tourism-aviation seminar, music and art performances, cultural exchanges and meetings between Vietnamese and American businesses.

The Foreign Ministry said “Meet Vietnam” aims to ensure Vietnamese in California get updated and accurate information about their home country and seek business opportunities in Vietnam. The event will also help promote cooperation between Vietnam and California.

California has over 1.5 million Vietnamese, accounting for half of the total overseas Vietnamese in the world.
