Foreign Ministry External Relations Director Le Quoc Thinh said that Ambassador Schwab will chair two workshops aimed at coaching Vietnamese exporters to penetrate the American market and other key markets without becoming entangled in trade barriers.

Contrary to prior reports in this and other Vietnamese media, Schwab is no longer an American Government official.

Schwab, 54, has worked in senior foreign trade positions at the US Commerce and State Departments and was dean of the University of Maryland’s School of Policy. In 2005 she was named Deputy US Trade Representative, and promoted to the top negotiator’s job a year later.  She retired from the US Government when the Obama Administration took office and now serves on the boards of several large American corporations.
