Vietnam opposes the US’s recent unilateral military attack on a farm in Syrian territory, said the spokesman of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Dung on October 29.
He made the statement in response to correspondents’ queries regarding Vietnam’s reaction to the US attack.
Spokesman Dung also said that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations must always be absolutely respected.
Vietnamese ambassador to Laos Nguyen Huy Quang on Oct. 29 handed over 100,000 USD in donations raised by Ho Chi Minh City to Vientiane governor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoun, to help the victims of recent floods in Vientiane .
On behalf of the recipients, Sinlavong Khoutphaythoun expressed his thanks to the people of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the Vietnamese Party, State and people in general.
On Oct. 28, A mbassador Nguyen Huy Quang also handed over 100,000 USD in relief aid to the Lao government to help their flood victims.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung received the Singaporean Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang in Hanoi on Oct. 29.
Deputy PM Hung expressed his pleasure at the excellent progress in the areas of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Many cooperative projects were implemented effectively, contributing to the economic development of each country and improving their positions in the global arena.
The deputy PM stressed that in the current circumstances of uncertainty due to the global financial crisis, cooperation has become increasingly necessary and significant. He said that the current crisis offers an opportunity for Asian countries to intensify their efforts to work together, helping to strengthen and develop the whole region, if they could take advantage of it.
Minister Lim Hng Kiang expressed his joy at witnessing the impressive recent development of Vietnam, considering it an achievement of the national renewal process and the Vietnamese government’s reform.
He agreed that the two countries should continue their work to increase cooperation in order to overcome the effects of the global financial crisis and usher in a new era of development.
Vietnam is willing to share its experiences and offer assistance to Laos in training personnel for the agro-forestry sector, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said.
Receiving the Lao Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Siteheng Latsaphone in Hanoi on Oct. 29, Deputy PM Hung praised the efficient cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos.
The deputy PM said he is pleased to see that Vietnam will assist Laos in developing areas such as rural agriculture, farm products and fisheries, and will help them to formulate strategies to promote rural agricultural development.
Minister Latsaphone informed the deputy PM of the outcome of his discussions with his Vietnamese counterpart, Minister Cao Duc Phat.
He said that Laos would like to receive more Vietnamese support in a number of land planning and zoning activities.
