Vietnamese leaders have offered congratulations to the newly-elected leaders of the Chinese State, National People’s Congress (NPC), Government and People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
State President and Chairman of the Council on National Defence and Security of Viet Nam Nguyen Minh Triet sent a congratulatory message to Hu Jintao on being re-elected as Chinese President and Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung cabled a message to Wen Jiabao, who was re-elected Chinese premier.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong sent congratulations to Wu Bangguo for being elected as Chairman of the 11th NPC Sanding Committee.
Meanwhile, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Huynh Dam sent a greeting message to the newly-elected chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee Jia Qinglin.
Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan has congratulated Vice President Xi Jinping, and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung sent his greetings to Vice Premier Li Keqiang. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem offered his congratulations to State councillor Dai Bingguo and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on March 17 sent a message to President of the Republic of Boliva Venezuela Hugo Chavez to congratulate him on being elected President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
Vietnam and Slovenia have great potential for bilateral cooperation, especially in information technology and tourism, Slovenian President Danilo Turk told Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Ba Than, who presented him his credentials on March 13.
Slovenia, in its capacity as the EU President, is ready to be a bridge for Vietnam to further boost its cooperation with the European Union (EU), the President said.
The Slovenian leader also spoke highly of Viet Nam ’s economic development achievements, the nation’s role at international forums and its successful hosting of high-level meetings of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Vietnamese diplomat pledged to work hard to contribute to promoting multi-faceted cooperation with Slovenia in the future.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong and Brazilian Senator Heraclito Fortes have agreed that Vietnam and Brazil should accelerate contacts and exchange of delegations to promote political, cultural, economic and commercial cooperation.
Vice Chairwoman Phong received a delegation from the External Relations and National Defence Committee of Brazil’s Senate, led by its chairman Senator Heraclito Fortes, in Hanoi on March 17.
Sharing Vietnam’s experiences in renovation and poverty reduction with the Brazilian delegation, Vice Chairwoman Phong said Vietnam always placed great importance on political stability, and paid special attention to culture, education, healthcare, and caring for the poor and ethnic minorities.
She thanked Brazil for its support in Vietnam’s accession to the WTO and non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
Phong said she hoped that with increased contact between Vietnam and Brazil’s governments, parliamentary ties and people to people diplomacy between the two countries would continue to develop and expand.
Senator Heraclito Fortes said Brazil believed parliamentary diplomacy would bring the nations closer to one another. The Brazilian delegation’s current visit aims to enhance cooperation between the two parliaments, he said.
