Cambodian leaders hope to strengthen ties with Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge – King Norodom Sihamoni and a bevy of Cambodian officials have affirmed their desire to work towards a new and sustainable era in the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

King Sihamoni as well as Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Chea Sim, CPP Vice Chairman and Prime Minister Samdech Hunsen, and CPP Honorary Chairman and National Assembly President Samdec Heng Samrin all spoke of the need for better ties while receiving the Director of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for External Affairs Tran Van Hang and his delegation at separate receptions.

During their working visit to Cambodia from September 18-21, the Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with the Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the CPP Central Committee Say Chhum, CPP office chief Tep Ngon and Chairman of the CPP Committee of Foreign Affairs Yos Son.

Both the host and guest informed each other of the situation in their Parties and discussed ways to promote their future bilateral cooperation.

While in Cambodia, the Vietnamese NA deputies also paid a courtesy visit to the leader of the National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Co-operative Cambodia ( FUNCINPEC ) and Deputy Prime Minister Kev Put Reaksmei.
