Vietnam to host ACMECS and CLMV Summits

VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam will host the third Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Co-operation Strategy (ACMECS - 3) and the fourth Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV- 4) Summits at the Hanoi National Convention Centre at the end of October and early November this year.

According to an official dispatch released by the Governmental Office on March 21, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will join relevant countries' counterparts to co-chair the third ACMECS and the fourth CLMV Summits.

The Prime Minister also agreed to set up the summits' organising board which is headed by a deputy foreign minister.

The ACMECS includes Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The second ACMECS Summit was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from Nov. 1-3, 2005 while the third CLMV Summit took place in Cebu, the Philippines, on January 12, 2007.
