VietNamNet Bridge - The Hanoi Bar Association has decided to remove the names of Lawyers Nguyen Van Dai and Le Thi Cong Nhan from the list of its members, announced Pham Hong Hai, Chairman of the Association, on Mar. 12.

Decision No. 69/QD-BCN by the directorate board of the Ha Noi Bar Association was issued on the basis of the Ha Noi Police's decision on prosecuting and arresting the two lawyers.

Nguyen Van Dai, 38, and Le Thi Cong Nhan, 28, both residents of Ha Noi, were arrested on charges of spreading propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam under Vietnam's Penal Code Term 88 Article 1, a and c points.

Nguyen Van Dai was head of the Thien An Lawyers' Office and director of the Viet Luat Translation and Consultancy Co. Ltd, and Le Thi Cong Nhan was a lawyer of the Thien An Lawyers' Office.

As the two layers' names were removed from the Ha Noi Bar Association, the Thien An Lawyers' Office is now no longer eligible to operate. The Ha Noi Bar Association has requested the Ministry of Justice withdraw the license of Thien An Lawyers' Office.

The initial results of the investigation showed that since 2004, Nguyen Van Dai took advantage of the State's permission to establish the Thien An lawyers' office and the Viet Luat company to spread propaganda, lure forces and collude with political opportunists as well as hostile forces at home and abroad which oppose the State. Their acts run counter to the interests of the nation and people, seriously violating Vietnam's laws.
