State funeral for General Chu Huy Man

VietNamNet - The State funeral to commemorate General Chu Huy Man took place in Hanoi on July 6.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, headed the state funeral committee.

Delegations from the Party, National Assembly, State, Government and Fatherland Front (VFF), led by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and VFF President Pham The Duyet, paid their last tributes to the General.

Delegations from General Man's home province of Nghe An, other provinces and cities, ministries and agencies, also attended the funeral.

General Chu Huy Man, born in 1913, was member of the CPV Central Committee (3rd, 4th and 5th congresses), member of the Party Politburo (4th and 5th congresses) and National Assembly deputy (2nd, 3rd and 4th legislatures).

He also held positions as Vice President of the State Council and Deputy Secretary of the Military Party Central Committee.

He was presented with the highest decorations of Vietnam, such as the Gold Star Order and the Ho Chi Minh Order, and many high decorations of other countries.

General Man passed away in Hanoi on July 1.
