VietNamNet – UN Secretary General Kofi Annan will visit the first university of Vietnam, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, during his visit to the country with wife Nana Annan from May 23 to 25, 2006.

Annan will also pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh at the late president’s mausoleum and meet with President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Annan’s visit takes place when Vietnam is lobbying for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in the 2008-2009 term. Nana Annan will meet with Vietnamese women leaders as well as visit the ancient Hanoi citadel and old town.

Annan became UN Secretary General in 1997. His second term in office will end this year.
