VietNamNet Bridge - The 11km wall of the Hue royal citadel, a world cultural heritage site, has been seriously damaged by the encroachment of thousands of families.
Some sections of the wall, which is 21m in width, have become residential areas hosting hundreds of houses and vegetable gardens.
Since the Hue ancient imperial city was recognised as a world cultural heritage, the local government has tried to remove families who are living on the ancient wall, but thousands of households are still there. It is said that many families have been living on the wall since 1945.
